Welcome to October- this is a busy month!  Please make sure to share our website and spread the word of PTA membership!  As the year goes on, this communication will be the best place for upcoming event details, volunteer opportunities, exclusive member discounts and more!

WHAT ARE WE UP TO?

Jogathon was awesome this year!!  Thank you to the committee and all of the wonderful volunteers for such fabulous job putting this event together!  We appreciate all of the "circus performers", parents, supply donations and everyone else that contributed behind the scenes to make this year a success!!  Final collections are due this Friday, Nov. 1 to be eligible for prizes!

 

Join us for dinner!!!

Our first restaurant night fundraiser will be at Ted's Cafe Escondido on Tuesday, Oct 29 from 5pm to close.  You MUST turn in a flyer to receive the donation- look for one to come home in your child's Thursday folder!  We hope to see everyone there!

Don't forget to visit our garden in the Outdoor Classroom on the playground between Elementary and Primary before the weather gets too cold!  It's never too late to plan for spring!!  Gardens are provided by Earth Rebirth Norman!

Parent Survey for Ms. Welborn

 Please take a moment to complete the needs survey for Truman Elementary Counseling Services. Your feedback is helpful to ensure we are meeting the needs of our students, parents, and community! Thank you.

Truman Counseling Corner with Ms. Welborn

Mrs. Keel will be needing some volunteers for Elementary STEM Day on Monday, November 25.  Please reply or reach out to Mrs. Keel if you're interested!

 

GIRLS ON THE RUN...WE NEED YOU!

We are looking for a few moms/or adult females that would be interested in coaching Girls On The Run for Elementary. This would involve about an hour and a half, two days a week. You teach a short curriculum and then run/walk with the girls. The program begins in Mid February and runs through early May. There are 24 practice sessions. Please contact Ms. Welborn at twelborn@norman.k12.ok.us if you are interested.

Red Ribbon Week at Elementary


Red Ribbon Week October 28 - November 1

Red Ribbon Week is a great time to start a conversation with your kids about the importance of respecting our bodies and brains. Healthy living is about making choices that honor ourselves and will lead us to the future we hope for. This year we are focusing on positive choices that will impact our future.  Join us in the spirit week days to help drive the point home!


 

Share Your Shelf food drive


We will be collecting nonperishable food items October 28 - November 1 during Red Ribbon Week to support Norman Food Pantries. We are so excited to help families in need through the holidays and to support our community. Let's make this the best Share Your Shelf ever. It is our goal to collect 1000 food items at Truman!

Ted's Cafe Escondido restaurant night fundraiser

Join us at Ted's for our first restaurant fundraiser night of the year on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 5pm-close.  You MUST have a copy of the paper flyer (sent home in Thursday folders) OR you can have a picture of it on your phone in order for our school to receive the percentage of sales!  

 

Fall parties Thursday, Oct. 31

Students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes this Thursday during Red Ribbon Spirit week!

Primary parties are 8-8:30am

Elementary parties are 2-2:40pm

REQUIREMENTS FOR COSTUMES:

Please remember:

No masks (unless the classroom teacher allows this during parties)

No weapons or representations of weapons of any kind

Costumes must be respectful of heritage and culture

Nothing too violent

 

Jogathon packets are due with donation collections Friday, Nov. 1


Remember to keep collecting your Jogathon donations and turn in your packets by this Friday, Nov. 1 to be eligible for prizes-no exceptions to this date!  Prizes will be awarded at the Dec. 6 GMT/GAP assemblies.


 

Box Top Submissions due Friday, Nov. 1


Please make sure to turn in your clipped Box Tops and scan all of your receipts by this Friday, Nov. 1.  The classes with the most submissions will win a surprise!
