Parents We Need Volunteers

We need Volunteers to Teach Junior Achievement in 4th and 5th grade classes on December 11th, Wednesday.

Training (30 mins) will be provided along with the curriculum for the class.

Parents this is a great way to become involved in your child’s classroom for a day.  I can have 2 volunteers per classroom if you’d like to have a buddy (another parent) co-teach with you.

Volunteers arrive at Truman Elementary School at 7:35 am and report to office to sign in.  I will be there to meet with all the volunteers and welcome them.  The teachers will send down students to pick you up and take you to your classroom.

The lessons are not difficult because it is mostly activities they learn from.  We have told the students that Junior Achievement would be teaching them and they really look forward to a fun-filled day.  At this moment we are short 6 volunteers to make this happen.

Please if you are available please contact Shelley Brown at:  sbrown@jaok.org or 405-300-1027.

 Roles of a JA Volunteer:

 Present five 45 minute lessons in one day.

 Serve as a positive role model.

 Help students make the connection between the lessons and how it relates to their world.

 Have fun and share your experiences with the students!

Things to Know:

 Teacher remains in the classroom at all times.

 All materials are provided, including a detailed lesson plan book.

 Training will be provided. Date, time and location of training TBD

JA Our Nation®

JA Our Nation provides practical information about the need for employees who can meet the demands of the 21st century job market, particularly high-growth, high-demand jobs. By program's end, students will understand the skills, especially in science, technology, engineering, and math, that will make their futures brighter. (Grade 5)

JA Our Region®

JA Our Region introduces students to entrepreneurship and how entrepreneurs use resources to produce goods and services in a region. Students operate a hypothetical hot dog stand to understand the fundamental tasks performed by a business owner and to track the revenue and expenses of a business. (Grade 4)

Truman Holiday Giving Tree

Our Holiday giving trees are located in the foyer of both schools. This is a combined effort to provide Christmas gifts to some of our Truman Families.

Please stop by and choose an ornament from a tree. Purchase and wrap the requested gift and return it to ELEMENTARY by Friday, December 13 and to PRIMARY by Tuesday, December 17th.

Thank you from Mrs. Price and Ms. Welborn

Please contact Ms. Welborn at twelborn@norman.k12.ok.us if you are interested.

OUR COMMUNITY

Chocolate Festival Coming Soon!!!
What exactly is the Norman Chocolate Festival? The Norman Chocolate Festival is our gift to the Norman community. With such a rich history of bringing families together to celebrate chocolate as an art
form and spotlighting the talent and generosity of
local culinary artists, the Festival is a staple on the
city calendar. Secondly it is a fundraiser for the
Norman PTA Council to support education and the welfare of children in Norman Public Schools. The Council awards thousands of dollars in grants for school PTA projects that promote family engagement and academic enrichment.

Tickets are on sale NOW and our great gifts during the holiday season!

All Norman PTA units are expected to have at least 2(two) volunteers at all council events; therefore please use this link below to have your volunteers signup. If you have any further questions or concerns please email the chocolate festival committee.

As partners we will support both the faculty and students throughout the year. If your unit would like to host a teacher appreciation event please signup here. If your unit would like to signup to provide snacks or supplies for students please do so here. Thank you for your generosity and support!
